What went wrong?
Over complicating the narrative - During story boarding, we had so many ideas that we wanted to put together that the story became too complicated. So much so that it made shooting difficult and also briefing our actors and making sure everyone in the group was on the same page. To create a good music video I think we need to have a simple idea that doesn't become to confusing to shoot and write about.
Editing - Because we had over complicated the narrative, when it came to editing we found that some of the effects we were expecting to do we were unable to create. When planning our music video we need to make sure we can actually do the desired effects before shooting. Also we were not sure on how to work the programs we were using to edit so this took extra time. However now we know from last year this should not be a problem for our music video.
Location - The location we filmed in was complementary to the narrative and fitted well but it was impractical for reshooting. Therefore this year we need to find somewhere that fits the genre and music etc but is also practical for reshooting which we may need to do.
Blogging - We didn't spend much time on the group blog.
What went well?
Story boarding - As a group we spent a lot of time on story boarding and this proved helpful when it came to the shooting because we knew what shots we needed. We also story boarded and filmed extra shots that we weren't sure of so that we could decide when editing. This was useful for having extra footage while making the opening sequence.
Preparation and the group - We spent a lot of time as a group preparing for the shooting. We drew up lists of what we needed for the day, props etc, as made sure everyone knew what they were doing on the day. This allowed us to film efficiently. We were well organised and this made the filming day less stressful.
Timing - We filmed quite early in order to have enough time to edit. This worked well for our group as the editing took up a lot of time.
Blogging - I spent a lot of time on my individual blog including research and evaluation.
