First day of filming 2/12/12

Today was our first day of filming! We started out in Richmond Park in the morning, found an open space within the trees. Being a very cold but sunny morning the lighting was really good, we used this to our advantage using shots towards the sun so that the characters were just shiloets and shots with the sun in the corner to give a nice effect to the shot.

There was a large fallen tree that we used for the beginning verse of the song. We played the song and asked the characters to walk along the tree, chasing each other a bit. I think we gave them good direction and they did what they asked but being the beginning of the day it wasn't clear to see the chemistry between the characters because of awkwardness but this quickly changed. We asked Malory to sing the song the whole way through in a few locations and from different angles to make sure that when we came to edit there wasn't parts of the song that we were missing. I think this was a good idea and could come in really useful later on.

We spend quite a while in this location using the area to our advantage adding in extra shots that we hadn't thought of while storyboarding.

While we were filming we noticed a pond nearby and so decided to use it instead of going all the way to another location. However we did have to wait around for a bit due to the public walking round it etc. We filmed for a while here taking extra shots and recording the whole song. The lighting was also really nice here and was a good place to take some photos for possible album covers.

On the way back to the car we saw a hammock in the play ground and decided it might be a fun place to film so we recorded the whole song with the main character laying in the hammock.

We drove into kingston and filmed our characters in the christmas market. We timed this right because by the time we got into Kingston and recharged the camera it was getting slightly dark and therefore the lights had been switched on.
